Teething Facts

There are several things that parents can do to help ease the pain of teething; teething rings, water-filled and chilled rubber teething toys, clean fingers to offer counter pressure... Some parents find cold water, in a bottle or sippy cup, to be helpful. The water helps replenish fluids if they are dribbling a lot or have diarrhoea. Others find cold food such as yoghurt, or frozen fruit etc canto be effective. When there is nothing more a parent can do for their child, they have to turn to painkillers.

When do babies start getting teeth?

Every child is different when it comes to teething. Sometimes a baby can be even be born with a tooth or two! Others may turn one before they have any tooth at all. In general though, children get their first tooth at around the age of six months and this will usually be one of the front bottom teeth. By the age of two and a half, babies should have a full set of 20 teeth.

Teething symptoms

Many parents blame teething for various problems such as nappy rash, bad mood, colds, frequent dirty nappies, ear infections etc. None of these are proven symptoms of teething so it is important not to ignore them and pass them off as simply teething, since you may be missing the signs of another ailment.

Many babies have no trouble at all getting teeth. However, some find it quite painful on the gums where the tooth is pushing through. A baby tends to dribble more and chew on their hands or toys to ease this pain.

Looking after the teeth
  • Brush your baby’s teeth as soon as they appear – before bed especially. If they don’t like brushing you can use a damp cloth to wipe them.
  • You can use a tiny blob of toothpaste with reduced fluoride if you want.
  • Try give your baby more savoury foods than sweet.
  • Limit the amount of sugary foods and drinks your baby consumes.
  • Juices / watered-down juices should not be given through a bottle. They should be given in a cup. Only water or milk should be given in a bottle.
  • Avoid dipping the baby’s dummy in sweet foods or drinks.
  • Use sugar-free medicines and tonics.

About Our Shop

Teething Amber We are an internet-based company that specialises in selling high quality baltic amber necklaces. Based in Europe, we sell our products world-wide.

How it works?

Baltic amber is a powerful chakra cleanser and healer. At a physical level, it imbues the body with vitality and has the power to draw disease out of the body. By absorbing pain and negative energy, amber allows the body to rebalance and heal itself.

Amber is a natural painkiller and therefore will help ease the pain of teething. Many mothers claim that their babies are calmer once the necklace is on.

As well as its analgesic properties, it is also a natural anti-inflammatory, and therefore will help to soothe those gums!

Because it is fossilised resin (not stone), it warms up when worn against the skin, which allows these properties to be released.
